Vangst Member Spotlight: Mali Walsh, Cannabis Sales Manager

Mali Walsh joined the cannabis industry over seven years ago. In that time, she developed relationships with hundreds of companies all around the world. She is now the Sales Manager at Vangst, working to take cannabis sales beyond the stratosphere.

Tell us about your cannabis journey. I joined the industry 7 years ago when I started working at MJBiz (Marijuana Business Daily). After 2 years there, I moved to LeafLink as their first Sales Representative. Over the course of 3 years, I took the company from 1 to 780 clients and launched the software into 11 states. I joined Vangst nine months ago after learning about their newest software offering and that it would be specific to the cannabis industry. I wanted to be a part of this team and now I am - managing and building out the SaaS Sales Team.

Why do you love your job and/or the industry? Being a part of a fast-moving startup industry is fun and rewarding. While being in sales in cannabis is challenging, it also comes with so many perks. In 7 years, I've gained some incredible friends. And best of all, I'm able to learn so much from some of the most brilliant people I've ever met.

What are you happiest doing when you're not working? Playing and hanging out with my daughter and my husband!

Tell us about yourself. What is unique about you? I'm from Iran, speak 3 languages, and have a Masters Degree in International Relations. I have 4 siblings and we each live on 4 different continents which gives me the perfect excuse to travel often and see as much of the world as I possibly can. I also met my husband in Seoul, South Korea and we moved to Colorado together.

Something people would probably be surprised to know about me is that I would love to spend a couple of nights on a ranch some day. So relaxing!

What would be your personal motto? Work hard, play hard. The cannabis industry is built with some of the hardest working people I've ever met in my life. But the best part is that we also know how to have fun! If you've never been to an industry tradeshow or networking event, you need to go (post-COVID) and see exactly what I mean.
