Are you considering a cannabis career in marketing and sales?

Getting Started in Cannabis

Vangst invited me to write about navigating cannabis careers in marketing and sales, and I hope you find it helpful!

I've held and hired for a lot of these positions in the retail and product manufacturing verticals, and for small and large alike. No two jobs are the same, but that doesn't mean you have to reinvent the wheel. Stick to operational best practices, and invest time in understanding cannabis culture and consumption.

Leave us a comment below if you have advice on the topic, or a question to share with the Vangst Community!

That's an interesting question and topic you speak on here; of course it hinges on personal perspectives, perhaps ethics as well...and noticing that no one really offered insight or consideration I figured I'd offer my perspective.

Focus.

Focus is a good place to begin when entering into sales. When the focus is on the money to be gained things tend to get very impatient and impersonal.

When the focus is on sharing information, gaining insight and helping one another things tend to get very connected and mutually beneficial.

Knowledge.

Knowledge is very helpful when promoting any product, yet knowledge can go two ways. Gaining insight of the prospective buyers needs, or where they could use some help is a way of gaining knowledge. So knowledge isn't necessarily about everything regarding cannabis. Having a willful desire to gain more insight while sharing your knowledge is a very beneficial way to move towards in regards to sales of cannabis.

So in short my offer here is:

Look in your heart, reach out to help the person you're interacting with, see where you may be able to help and offer that. I believe in doing so you will find that you go very far and feel very good in what you do. Which becomes a great attractant enabling each continuing interaction with others even more joyous to all.

The Cannabis industry is a very unique industry, the "Product" is so diverse and offers many beneficial attributes that so many across this planet enjoy.

So just relax into being you.

I hope my offer assists in some way a helpful approach to a career in marketing and sales of cannabis.

Peace, N8 🤠

This is great advice, N8! It's amazing what hunger and humility around knowledge can do for a brand's sales.
