Tips for answering salary questions?

Getting Started in Cannabis

What's the best way to approach "salary expectation" questions while speaking to a cannabis recruiter?

As someone trying to break into a career in cannabis after working in a different industry, I have a hard time answering these questions as I am not aware of current salary ranges in the cannabis industry as a whole. Don't want to undersell myself, but I also do not want to be removed from consideration by "over-pricing" myself.

Would love to know how others approach this, especially if you're coming from another industry!

Hi Mike!

Vangst actually releases a salary guide every year. Vangst collects datas from companies and employees in the industry! It's great for leveraging and a great resource if you are new (or a veteran) in this industry!! I linked it below so you can download it :)

Hey Mike,

Vangst recruiter here...great question!

I would say just shoot your shot!

When I am asking what your sweet spot is for a salary, I am genuinely trying to determine if certain opportunities are going to fall in line with your expectations and more so that you have a realistic view of what is considered feasible. That does not mean you are pigeon-holed to a number, but it does give us a decent understanding of where you want/need to be. We all have to make a living! Also as a recruiter, I think we understand more is always better and will fight to get our candidates what they deserve. We are here for you just as much as we may be here for the companies hiring : ) Cheers!!

Well said, Shannon!!!!
