Great question! I've surprised myself in really enjoying THC tolerance breaks, which I started in 2020 because I wasn't laughing at the "is it covid or is it smokers cough" jokes. I'm trying to stick with quarterly breaks timed to go along with some other seasonal rituals.
That being said, I don't always take a full break from cannabinoids. I really check in with myself to see what I could use the break from; is it all cannabinoids, just THC? Most of the time, I cut any cannabinoids for 2-3 days, and then start back in with low doses of tincture and/or edibles. I like to take at least a week if not two off from smoking.
I've heard people talk about doing tolerance breaks one week each month, or one month each year. Very interested to hear what others are doing!
I'm what you call a "Weekend Warrior" and save the fun for the end of the week or on special occasions at events/with friends.
I took a 2-month tolerance break this year to test if THC percentages actually matter (they don't IMO), and I found that cannabis changes your character over time. So if you ever want to revert back to your most authentic self, it's best to take a long break and revaluate your values.
