Transitioning into the cannabis industry
I have been in professional sales for 20 years with a unique background in health and fitness. I’ve been trying to get into the industry but have had no luck. Im self taught through my own cannabis research. Do you have to go to Cleveland school of cannabis to even be considered for crossover roles? Feel like I’m getting no where.
Hi Nick! I am a Senior Recruiter with Vangst, and may have a little insight for you...
While some clients do require cannabis experience to be considered, I work with clients on both ends of the spectrum, and there are some who are just looking for a genuine passion for cannabis and desire to crossover combined with a strong sales background and track record of success. My biggest piece of advice is to stay connected with us here at Vangst, update your resume, Vangst and LinkedIn profiles to reflect some verbiage expressing interest in breaking into the industry (for keyword searches when recruiters like me are searching for candidates), and reaching out to local cannabis companies to see if they'd be interested in talking!

I agree with Ember. There's much value in experience, however passion greatly outweighs experience.
There are different approaches to growing, different techniques for processing as well as marketing each company will prefer.
In this experience may hinder. For one may need to let go and unlearn to begin with the form the company prefers.
Passion is endless! Passion allows one to quickly learn and adpat to changes rapidly, willingly and without questions. Its a free flowing form, ever adaptable full of excitement and interest.
In reading your post I felt some passion of yours! My offer: Let go of sharing yyour concern and experience and flow with your passions. It doesn't have to be about cannabis, sharing your passion for helping people with your unique background with health and fitness, encouraging others may be a perfect approach for you to consider.
I really hope I offered you something that encourages and helps you to let your passion lead the way.
