Under the guidance of the Director of Engineering, the Software Engineer works hands-on with product stakeholders and other members of the software development team to serve up a modern e-commerce experience for consumers who visit our marketplace, as well as build tools to better support the brands and businesses who serve them every day via e-commerce (online menus), order fulfillment, and marketing software (SMS/MMS/Email). This role is located within Blackbird’s Software Development team and will be working with software developers, QA engineers, and Project Managers on a day-to-day basis within an agile Kanban environment. Software engineers will have the opportunity to work across the entire tech stack but may find themselves deep diving into one area of the tech stack based on their preferences and team needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Resolve client pain points related to SMS marketing, advertising, wholesale fulfillment, last mile delivery, and online e-commerce solutions.
- Complete assigned tasks and update teammates according to the team’s internal communication channels and Kanban board
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and adhere to best practices laid out by senior level engineers
- Evaluate, design, and implement feature sets that solve problems uncovered by the company's product and operational teams.
- Define technical scopes for features that are being scoped, in development, or already in production.
- Proactively voice concerns about technical debt and formulate plans to resolve it.
- Build features in a manner that allows for code reuse across a wide range of product offerings that are adaptable to changing legal requirements pertaining to the cannabis industry.

Experience
- Previous experience being involved in the shipping of software projects or products.
- Experience working with agile tracking tools like JIRA, Clubhouse, Trello, or similar
- Experience with at least two of the technology pairings listed below:
- Angular 4+ and Typescript
- Rails and Ruby
- Laravel and PHP
- SQL databases (MySql / Postgres)
- Redis / Elasticsearch
- Familiarity with Clean Code principles
- Experience working on team projects utilizing Git
