Summary

The primary responsibility of the Ethanol Extraction Technician is to safely and responsibly keep up with the daily production of ethanol-extracted crude oil. This includes detailed documentation of the required steps of the process to track extraction efficiencies and losses of internal and tolled biomass. This person is extremely detailed oriented and thoroughly follows procedures. The EETs will report to the Processing Supervisor and Director and follow their production schedule. Two EETs will be working together to create a consistent workflow in the C1D2 room, so this person must be a team player and willing to help in other parts of processing when necessary.

Role Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Will help/assist freezer/grinder techs in maintaining/pulling inventory, organization, grinding biomass, good workflow, etc.

  • Communicate effectively with others to ensure superior product outcomes, drive continuous improvement, and achieve operational excellence

  • Work in an independent manner to deliver results, with moderate direct supervision

  • Execute proper cryo-ethanol solvent handling and safety procedures to remain in regulatory compliance

  • Work within Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistent extraction outcomes and product integrity

  • Implement safety and maintenance schedules on extraction machines

  • Manage and handle extraction equipment – including pressurized systems

  • Observe and follow PPE and safety standards set by management

  • Maintain product stability and consistency

  • Have the ability to shift work schedules/tasks in response to production needs

  • Able to multitask while maintaining quality standards

  • Ensure compliance in all processing and documentation; conduct proper weighing, data recording, product tracking and security throughout all processes; become familiar with the Metrc tracking system

  • Streamline preventative maintenance for C1D2 room and all equipment that pertains to extraction; work with laboratory supervisor to fulfill all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance

  • Will pull own bags from the freezer and double-check tags and weights to match production schedule

  • Assist in writing SOPs as needed for extractions equipment and preventative maintenance

  • Know how to complete clean runs and when a license batch is complete before switching to the next

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace

  • Track and record when parts/consumables are replaced or need to be ordered

  • Filling logs/forms out (Biomass intake, Biomass grinding, Extraction, Merge, WIP, FG, Distillation, Decarboxylation)

Physical Requirements

    • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, while ensuring high level of accuracy

    • Ability to lift and move 55 pounds

  • Experience

    • 6 months + of experience in the cannabis industry

    • 2+ years of experience working in a highly regulated environment, including; food, beverage, drug, or chemical processing environments

    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently

    • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster strong working relationships throughout all levels of reorganization

    • A combination of the above will also be considered

    Education

    • High School graduate, with the ability to read English and understand basic mathematical concepts
