Summary
DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY
The staff accountant is responsible for ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded and conform with GAAP and regulatory standards. This role will also be responsible for cost accounting and inventory management. These processes include setting up Bill of Materials set up in QuickBooks for all items produced and complete variance analysis for changes during the year, cycle counting, report running, and maintaining a high level of communication among various departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly close processes
- Manage the recording of cash receipts, revenue, and receivables in our accounting system
- Process invoices by receiving, matching, and examining of invoices and applicable documentation
- Resolves discrepancies and manages payment schedules
- Reviews, analyzes, and reconciles all payments for accuracy and timeliness
- Manage accounts payable transactions related to purchase requisitions, purchase orders, travel reimbursements and related accounting transaction processing. Tracking of all payments and expenditures
- Prepare, analyze, and record monthly inventory entries
- Assist with monthly inventory counts
- Assist with various audit tasks, including providing support and/or documentation for internal and external audit and various ad-hoc reports as needed
- Assist with the analysis of financial variances that support internal management reporting
- Assist with the documenting and monitoring of internal controls
- Ensure all business unit requests, questions and ad-hoc issues are handled in a timely, professional manner
- Ensure accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets
- Maintain a comprehensive system of accounting records with monthly reconciliations
- Manage and maintain internal accounting policies, procedures, and operational controls
- Ad-hoc reporting and other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Other projects/tasks, as requested by direct manager.
- Must be willing and able to occasionally work a flexible schedule as the business needs demand, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of experience, preferably in cannabis, manufacturing, agricultural, or related field
- Experience working in startup environments, including demonstrated ability to work in the absence of large company resources, processes, and structure
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Excellent computer skills with high proficiency using spreadsheets and various accounting platforms
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
