Patient Care Specialist

Summary

The Patient Care Specialist is responsible for interacting with, educating, and advising patients face-to-face and by phone, record-keeping, assisting with inventory and cash management as well as interacting with local service providers. The Patient Care Specialist will be cross trained in all order fulfillment activities which includes preparing orders, entering product information, calling patients and fulfilling product requests under the supervision of the pharmacist and admitting/checking in patients. The Patient Care Specialist is also responsible for upholding the mission and values of the company and ensuring that his/her team delivers patient service and care excellence at all times.

Duties/Responsibilities
  1. Greet patients and caregivers in person or on the phone and control their entry into dispensary; checking eligibility and validity of Medical Marijuana (MMJ) card; oversees member intake and renewal procedures
  2. Assist potential patients with registering or reregistering into MMJ program.
  3. Maintain member records in compliance with State law and Company policy
  4. Answer questions about the law and the Company from members and others
  5. Assist patients/caregivers in selecting medicine; advises and educates them about safe dosage and other aspects of this medicine
  6. Assist Dispensary Manager, Assistant manager and Pharmacist with inventory and cash management, daily and weekly
  7. Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment inside and outside the facility
  8. Other duties may be assigned by the Dispensary Manager, Assistant Manager and Pharmacist according to Company needs

Education Requirements & Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. 2 years post-secondary education in a related field preferred
  3. 2+ years' experience in a fast-paced client-service intensive industry - hospitality and retail backgrounds preferred
  4. Computer & equipment operations necessary for running an office/retail center (POS systems; Word; Excel; office equipment such as copiers/telephone systems)
  5. Familiarity with history and varieties of medical marijuana preferred but not required

Other Requirements
  • Extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for a distance of 100 feet
  • New York state resident
  • Must pass a background check (state mandated)

For purposes of this Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, an individual is considered fully vaccinated when two weeks have passed following receipt of the second dose in a two-dose vaccination series (such as Pfizer or Moderna) or two weeks have passed following a single-dose vaccination (such as Johnson & Johnson). Additionally, candidates who accept an offer of employment will be provided with instructions for securely submitting proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to the individual's start date, as well as the Company's process for requesting and completing an applicable medical or religious exemption form. No medical documentation should be submitted to the Company prior to receiving such instructions from the Company's recruiter or other designated human resources professional.
