Description

The Director of Retail Operations is responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient and profitable operation of our Massachusetts state licensed dispensaries and ensuring that all dispensaries operate within the regulations set forth by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission and company policy

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage the retail Dispensary Managers to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives
  • Deliver results and strategic direction to dispensary leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with management on annual budget, forecasts, and monthly P&L reviews
  • Identify sales opportunities to increase profits, growth and financial performance of the dispensaries
  • Oversee outreach and security managers to ensure growth and support across all retail locations
  • Correspond with regulatory entity (CCC) when necessary.
  • Conduct store walkthroughs to analyze business opportunities, risks and key controls.
  • Work with Supply Chain (and eventually internal wholesale team) to ensure diverse offerings for patients. Identify trends and build out inventory to maximize profitability.
  • Implement operational policies and procedures for retail teams as necessary.
  • Work together with the management team to overcome challenges and solve problems
  • Develop opportunities with MA Marketing team to utilize creative strategies to build business and measure success.
  • Assure that all staff have a thorough understanding of corporate processes, SOPs and provide training when needed.
  • Regularly update and maintain state-level SOPs and training programs.
  • Ensure continuous training and development with direct reports that results in improved consistency across all dispensaries.
  • Coach dispensary leadership teams to subsequently engage and lead their teams with high standard of operational performance and customer service
  • Write and deliver performance reviews focused on improving strengths and developing in areas of improvement.
  • Work in conjunction with marketing team in development and execution of company strategies and initiatives
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 5 years senior level experience in leading Retail operations, preferably in the Cannabis Industry
  • Educated to Degree Level (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Business or another relevant field)
  • Knowledge of Cannabis industry preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices


Computers and Technology

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
