About Project Mission Green

Mission Green works to address the injustices and the collateral consequences of cannabis arrests and convictions. The organization redresses these injustices and disparities through legislative advocacy and programs designed both to secure the release of nonviolent cannabis offenders from incarceration and to assist those coming out of prison to rebuild their lives through reentry programs.

Role Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Help design and implement online advocacy campaign including:
  • Creating and executing a recruitment strategy to grow organizational database/list
  • Drafting email actions that inspire people to take action, whether that means signing a petition, forwarding an online video, or calling one’s legislator
  • Leveraging headlines to launch fast-breaking campaigns that get the attention of media outlets, foreign governments, and the public at large
  • Manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social media applications as needed
  • Work across departments - including Public Communications, Policy and Advocacy, and Development - to develop plans and tactics for online mobilization, outreach and fundraising to support campaign and ongoing work of Mission Green
  • Oversee creative production and distribution of emails Create and manage online initiatives including viral campaigns, online advertising, online/offline strategies
  • Implement and monitor test plans, metrics, and analysis of online constituent mobilization campaigns
  • Report on actionable statistics - primarily email but also some select web metrics
  • Work with organizational partners, including corporate partners, political campaigns, and non-profits
  • Monitor trends in online and social media tools and applications and provide regular feedback to management and staff of insights gained from such monitoring
  • As international advocacy becomes implemented, additional responsibilities may include: Craft strategies for implementing effective online campaigns across a wide array of programs
  • Lead the team to follow set protocol when interacting within online communities
  • Become an advocate of the organizational mission in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate
  • Schedule and organize multiple departments to generate content on a weekly basis
  • Search engine optimization
  • Manage content on Mission Green website
  • Ensure content is clear, consistent, and updated daily as news breaks or changes
  • Develop, write or edit materials to have a consistent voice and look throughout
  • Work with program staff to plan and promote materials and events on the website and ensure materials are accurate and up to date
