This role requires a self-motivated individual capable of delivering start-to-finish results and able to be the point of contact for multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be able to integrate new functions or features into existing system architecture as well as architect all electrical/electronic functionality into new products and will be knowledgeable about existing/emerging automation technologies needed to support product development.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, test custom electrical components or subsystems

• Identify, design, develop and execute in-house testing of new and existing electrical systems

• Manage 3rd party design of custom PCBAs to include requirements documentation, architecture, and high-level design

• Expert design & troubleshooting experience in: systems integration, wiring & circuit diagrams, motion controls, panel layout & wiring, wire routing, wire assemblies, connectorizing, EMC/EMI, and product integration

• Maintain functional ownership and documentation of product development and performance

• Work closely with the software development team to ensure successful firmware and hardware integration

• Support manufacturing efforts with production, and ordering support with purchasing

• Assist Field service/customer support with getting to root cause of field failures

Experience

Skills & Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience as a systems or electrical engineer in a high paced environment

• Strong engineering fundamentals in EE disciplines of circuit theory and electronics

• Experience designing to electrical specifications and/or product certifications such as CE, UL, CSA

• Proficiency with standard EE design and simulation tools (Solidworks Electrical, Schematic capture, PCB layout, LTSpice, etc.)

• Proficiency with standard EE test equipment (HiPot Tester, Oscilloscope, DMM, Spectrum Analyzer)

• Demonstrated ability to manage various projects and priorities simultaneously

• Experience working on embedded systems and working alongside firmware group to bring up custom boards

• Professional verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

• Good mechanical skills including specifying the mechanical requirements for boards

• Good working knowledge of various communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, Ethernet

• Experience developing a system with multiple circuit boards physically spread-out requiring architecture decisions on how best to wire the system to minimize electrical noise (EMC/EMI)

• Experience designing systems with programmable logic controllers

• Proficiency with soldering, hot air gun, and basic electrical rework techniques

• Working knowledge of common programming languages (C, C++, Python)
