Position Summary:
The Grow Controller will provide accounting leadership within our individual grow and process locations. This position will work closely with Operations, Finance and business leadership. This position will require 3 days per week on-site in our Boonton, NJ facility.
Essential Functions:
Inventory Control
- Partner with Operations & Finance teams to receive and track all Grow inventory
- Produces and streamlines month-end inventory reports
- Becomes expert user in state's seed-to-sale system and helps reconcile and troubleshoot where needed
- Partners with Operations & Finance to drive any write-offs or provisions for aging inventory
Grow Capital Expenditures Budget and Tracking
- Oversees FY 22 capital expenditures budget for Grow location
- Tracks Capital Expenditures budget vs. actuals plus relevant monthly depreciation calculations
- Partners with Operations and Finance to escalate any significant variances or unplanned Capital Expenditures
- Establishes and socializes approach for tracking projects' ROI, IRR, and NPV
General Grow P&L Oversight
- Serves as first point-of-contact for State Director of all matters related to P&L of Grow, with primary focus on all Costs of Goods Sold costs and G&A expenses
- Tracks all material Grow expenses and works with management to align spend to budget
Additional Functional and Project-Based Responsibilitie
- Partners with Procurement, Operations, Master Data, and Accounts Payable to help reconcile any vendor-related issues for key supplies of facility services, including onboarding and payments
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting; CPA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including supervisory experience. Public accounting experience, as well as corporate accounting experience preferred; Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience or exposure to all areas of accounting including but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash/revenue, fixed assets, accruals and reserves. Understanding of the principles of inventory manufacturing processes, retail sales processes, sales and use tax, and public company audit and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
- 3+ years supervisory experience required, effectively managing and developing a team of professionals.
- Manufacturing and Retail experience preferred.
- Experience working in a highly computerized environment and processing financial transactions using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and/or accounting software. QuickBooks and/or Epicor experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ERP system implementations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks with competing deadlines.
- Accurate, self-starter, with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks with competing deadlines.
- Professional written and verbal communication with multiple levels and departments.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and honest.
